About
Hossein Derakhshan, aka Hoder, is one of Iran’s most prominent bloggers. In November, it was reported that Hoder had been arrested in Iran, allegedly on charges of spying for the Israeli government. That news has since been confirmed by a number of sources.
Hossein took a highly publicized trip to Israel a few years back which he blogged about, garnering much attention from Israeli media. It is suspected that this trip could be the reason for his detention.
After living in London and Toronto, Derakhshan returned to Iran this fall. Shortly after his return, he stopped updating his blog and Facebook page. His arrest was first reported by Jahan News [Farsi], but was later confirmed by a family member.
There are a number of groups, including DigiActive, and Internet Sans Frontieres [French], advocating for Hoder. We hope to aggregate that information for you here. If you are interested in contributing to the site, please contact us at freehoder@gmail.com.

Great that you’re doing this. I’ve been blogging stuff on hoder since I first heard. We met a number of times when he lived in Toronto. He added me on twitter a couple months ago, and perhaps you should start a twitter feed?
We have a twitter feed at @freehoder. Glad you’re blogging too!
PS: I contacted you via this form since I couldn’t find a personal email address. My apologies for the inconvenience.
